1. What system configuration is required to run Midisaurus Music?
The program works on Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7. You need at least 1GB RAM, 10GB free internal hard disk space. The program currently does not support Mac OS and the older Windows operating systems: Windows NT, Windows 98, and Windows ME.
2. Is always-on broadband internet connection required?
Yes, always-on broadband internet connection is required to run the program.
3. I am frustrated with the slow run-time in launching the multimedia activities. Is there a way to speed up the run-time of the activities?
Yes, you can speed up the run-time of the multimedia activities if you download all the media files into your local disk first. Once the media files have been pre-loaded into the local disk, the activities can be launched almost instantly. This feature is available for the Teacher Version. Perform the media files download when your computer sits idle: run the Midisaurus Music program and click the [Download] button located on the top bar.
4. The videos in the program do not run on my PC. What could be the problem?
Check that the latest version of QuickTime is installed in your system. You can download the latest version of QuickTime Player from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
5. There is no sound output from my computer when I run the program. What could be the problem?
Check your system control panel to ensure that your sound output is not muted and that the sound volume is being turned to a nominal setting.
6. Do I need a MIDI keyboard for the program?
No, the MIDI keyboard is not a pre-requisite to run the program. The program works without any MIDI keyboard connected to your computer. Users can use the on-screen keyboard to play the activities.

The program works with any standard MIDI keyboard (of any brands) as long as it comes with both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT functions. The program does not support MIDI keyboards without built-in sound synthesizers (i.e. dummy keyboards). For activities with option to use the MIDI keyboard, click on the MIDI Option icon. Once the MIDI Option is turned on, the program will assume that users will continue to run the program with MIDI Option on.
8. I have connected a MIDI keyboard to my PC but could not get any MIDI input functions to work with the program. What could be the problem?
You need to check that your MIDI cable is connected properly to your PC and the MIDI keyboard. At the PC end, it is normally connected to the game port that comes with the sound card. At the MIDI keyboard end, check that the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT are connected correctly (if not, you may need to switch the connection). Next, you need to do the necessary software setup in order to use MIDI functions. Go to the 'Control Panel' & select 'Multimedia'. Follow the menu by selecting 'MIDI' tab and then select 'external MIDI instrument' and click OK.
